After a great meal at Sarikas in Boerne, Texas we decided to try out a place a few doors down called Water 2 Wine. It was a wonderful little place who made their own wines. They were quite friendly and a wealth of information on wine for the two of us who were naive on the subject. For Christmas that year I bought Bobby a Water 2 Wine gift certificate bottled in a pretty green bottle with my very own label on it. After a few wine tastings we both had an obvious favorite and decided to vint a batch of Stag's Leap Merlot. The week after Cabo we met with friends and bottled our very first batch of RanchCreek Wine. Quite fond of the taste and the personal label a bottle of our wine became a favorite gift for friends and family for any and every occassion. Enjoying the wine so much led us to begin purchasing the wine kits ourselves and vintning and setting up the whole process in our own kitchen. If someone had told me that first little sip of Stag's Leap at Water 2 Wine would have led to a cellar full of Ranch Creek Wines I never would have believed it.

A few years ago, I discovered Enology, the science of wine, which ignited a passion for learning about Viticulture and Enology. Since then, my wife and I have won multiple awards for our home-made wines at the local level (county fair competitions and at the San Antonio Regional Wine Guild competitions) at the state level Texas Wine Grape Growers Association Non-Commercial Wine Competition “T.V. Munson Cup”, Texas International Wine Competition and at the national and international level with multiple medals at the Annual Wine Maker’s International Amateur Competition. We completed the 2-year Texas Tech University Winemaking Certification Program and graduated in their first graduating class the summer of 2016. I continued my education graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Plant and Soil Science from Texas Tech University. In 2021 I started to support a fellow classmate working in their winery, https://dosrioswinery.com , and help us to win our first award. We won a Silver Medal for our 2018 Blanc De Bois white wine in the Texas International Wine Competition.
